The Groningen Student Futsal Association Drs. Vijfje is a young and vibrant club where futsal is played competitively within the Northern district of the KNVB. The association is intended for students of the University of Groningen and the Hanze University of Applied Sciences and is affiliated with the ACLO. At Drs. Vijfje, competitive and recreational sports blend perfectly— all within a fun, student-oriented atmosphere.

More than 500 Members

Drs. Vijfje was founded on March 27, 2003, and now has over 500 members. More information about the club’s history can be found via the History link. In the 2024/2025 season, Drs. Vijfje consists of 29 men’s teams and 11 women’s teams, making it the largest futsal club in the Netherlands. Vijfje is also the largest student futsal association in the country.

The club’s selection teams include the first two men's and women's squads.

  • Men’s 1 is coached by Sees Bergman

  • Men’s 2 is coached by Theo van der Molen

  • Women’s 1 is coached by Sven van Dam

  • Women’s 2 is coached by Moufid Cheich

  • Men’s lower-level teams are trained by Rinie Jurna

  • Women’s lower-level teams are trained by Johan Burgers

Vijfje 1 competes in the Topklasse, and Vijfje 2 in the Hoofdklasse. The remaining men’s teams are arranged in a pyramid across the Hoofdklasse, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th divisions. The women’s selection teams play in the Eredivisie (Vr1) and the Hoofdklasse (Vr2), with the remaining women’s teams competing in the 1st or 2nd divisions.

All home matches are played on Wednesdays or Fridays, with the selection teams playing exclusively on Fridays.

Drs. Vijfje’s go-to pub is Gelkinge 9, where members gather for drinks every Friday—and often on Wednesdays—after the matches. In addition, the club’s committees organize various events and parties, such as the Bieriokart Tournament, Beer Pong Tournament, and Running Dinners.

Drs. Vijfje also hosts multiple tournaments, including internal events like the Vijfje Internal Tournament and the Committee Tournament, as well as external tournaments such as the TOP Tournament and the Vijfje External Tournament.

Drs. Vijfje is a vibrant and lively club that has rapidly gained popularity in the northern Netherlands—and far beyond—within just a few seasons.
